Pagan Idolatry and The Democrats’ Quest For Unfettered Sex

But you’re gonna have to serve somebody, yes indeed
You’re gonna have to serve somebody,
It may be the devil or it may be the Lord
But you’re gonna have to serve somebody.

Bob Dylan, Gotta Serve Somebody

These lyrics in Bob Dylan’s 1979 hit song ring as true today as they would have in ancient B.C. times. It’s a biblical truth—we’re created in the image of God and therefore prone to worship. However, in our fallen state, we naturally rebel against God and worship the creature rather than the creator (Romans 1:18-32).

The Bible speaks of people who are given over to sexual immorality as the most grievous state man can be in. It is God’s ultimate wrath being poured out during this time on Earth. It is the ultimate form of idolatry and rebellion against God and nature. It is, simply put, the worship of the pagan goddess Ishtar.

Ishtar is one of the oldest known of the pagan gods and goddesses in the ancient Near East with writings dating as far back as 2000 B.C and was widely worshiped throughout Babylonia and Assyria. She is known as the goddess of fertility—the goddess of sex.

Today, the pagans of modern times worship the same conceptual goddess of sex. Largely prevalent through the Democrat political party in the U.S., the quest for unfettered sex without consequences is of utmost importance. Progressives, feminists, and homosexuals are largely in favor of anti-Christian, unbiblical, godless things such as abortion, gay marriage, and LGBTQ rights. These people want sex—their entire world revolves around sex. Quite literally, they worship sex.

This is one of the reasons why you cannot be a Christian and a Democrat at the same time. Christianity—true biblical Christianity—is opposed to literally everything on the Democrat agenda and platform.

When Democrats and progressives argue that abortion is about “women’s health” or “choice,” what they actually mean is they want to be able to have sex with whoever they want, whenever they want, without any responsibility whatsoever—even at the expense of sacrificing their children.

When homosexuals argue in favor of gay marriage, claiming that they should be able to “love” whoever they want, what they mean is that they want to be able to fulfill their perverted sexual desires, have the spread of disease mitigated by government intervention (free healthcare), and have no responsibility whatsoever for their actions.

This is what the Democrats want. This is what liberals and progressives are after. They want to be able to worship their pagan goddess without consequences, and they want to assuage their consciences by suppressing the truth and banding together and garnering support for doing what they know to be contrary to God.

Can We Get Over John Piper Already?

It seems that over the last several years, Evangelicalism has taken a sharp turn in leadership, leaving many empty chairs that were once filled with prominent voices. I think this turn started in 2017 when we lost R.C. Sproul. He was a voice the church looked to for...

Heresy of the Day #24: Generational Curses

I recently saw a video clip of false teacher Kathryn Krick claiming to free a woman of the “generational curses” of abuse, and it was difficult to watch. The woman was obviously hurt, sad, and noticeably emotional. And here was Krick, exploiting this poor woman for...

How to Identify the Heresy of Statism in Your Church

Remember COVID? Remember the evangelical talking heads—Russell Moore, David French, Ed Stetzer—aggressively pushing us to “love our neighbors” by wearing dirty face masks? Doubled up, maybe. Telling us that we must “do the right thing” by risking our own lives,...

Consumerism and the Worship of Worship

Somewhere along the way, the church stopped asking how God wants to be worshiped and started asking what people will show up for. We have spent decades perfecting an experience God never commanded. Not because our doctrinal statements changed. They often haven’t. Not...
