This is the problem with mixing religion with politics, and it’s the problem I’ve always had with Turning Point USA. While I still think Charlie Kirk was sincere in his Christian beliefs, I think the way he approached politics was extremely flawed.

For example, Kirk once platformed an open, practicing homosexual who called himself a “gay Christian” while living openly in rebellion against God.

While sitting on stage with him, Charlie Kirk never corrected him. In fact, he affirmed him.

And while I don’t think it’s wrong to stand with non-Christians or people of other religions on certain shared political ideologies, whether it be abortion, sexual immorality, tax policy, or whatever else, standing shoulder to shoulder with these people promoting different religious views while claiming to be united in faith does nothing except detract from the gospel.

Here, in a recent video clip, Turning Point platformed a Talmudic Jew, Ben Shapiro, who lectured the audience on how to get to Heaven—and it didn’t include Christ.

As a Jew, I mean, just Jewish belief, we don’t believe that you have to be Jewish in order to get into heaven. It’s a kind of a distinction between Judaism and many other religions. In fact, when people try to convert to Judaism, we tell people not to because it turns out it kinda sucks…

…And so we tell people that you really, like, if you– All you guys, if you’re not Jewish, all you have to do is fulfill seven basic rules. They’re called the Noahide Laws. They’re expressed in the Book of Genesis. They’re very basic things. Don’t kill anybody, please. Don’t do kidnapping. Don’t do theft. Don’t, don’t eat the flesh of a living animal. Don’t commit sexual immorality. Don’t blaspheme, right? These are…like, the very basics.

If you do those things, you’re in heaven.
