Prominent Catholic Priest Encourages Churches to Celebrate Gay Pride Month

Pope Francis and a prominent, outspoken pro-LGBTQ Roman Catholic priest, James Martin, appear to be on the same page now when it comes to homosexuality. Last month, Francis responded to a hand-written letter written to him by Martin where Francis referred to unrepentant homosexuals as “God’s children” and that God’s “style” with them is “closeness, mercy and tenderness.”

Of all the things the Roman Catholic Church gets wrong — the Mass, saint veneration and idolatry, and most importantly, justification — the organization has typically always ruled correctly on social behaviors such as homosexuality and abortion. Yet, under the current pope, we’ve seen a movement away from a staunch adherence to conservative doctrine on these issues. Francis has stated that homosexuals are “God’s children,” conducted a mass for gay Catholics, and endorsed same-sex unions in a documentary film recently released. At some point, it should come as no surprise if the Roman Catholic Church and all the apostate Protestant spin-offs join her in a massive sexual rebellion and openly embrace sodomy.

So should it come as any surprise that the pope is creating an atmosphere ripe for homosexuals to transform the organization into a homosexual activist outlet? Recently, Martin published a video encouraging churches to celebrate gay pride month explaining away “pride” as a “celebration of the human dignity of a group of people who have for so long been treated like dirt.”

The Catechism of the Catholic Church asks us to treat LGBTQ people with respect, compassion, and sensitivity,” he notes. “And participating in Pride events, or at least supporting our LGBTQ friends is one way to do this.”

Of course, Martin never mentions the gospel, the saving and regenerating power of the Holy Spirit, or the desire to pick up one’s cross and follow God. Nope. Just the usual hopelessness that comes with following the world and rejecting God.
