With so much talk about reconciliation in the Church today, it’s hard to pinpoint exactly what that means. The Bible talks about God, who sent His Son Jesus to reconcile the world to Himself (2 Corinthians 5:19).

But with so much hatred going around, in God’s infinite wisdom and grace, He has provided a picture of the reconciliation that His gospel provides.

Former Dallas police officer Amber Guyger was sentenced on Wednesday to serve 10 years in prison for the fatal 2018 killing of an innocent man, Botham Jean, she shot when she mistakenly entered his apartment believing it was her own. After 6 days of trial and the prosecution pushing for a sentence of no less than 28 years, Jean’s younger brother was allowed to address Guyger and completely forgave her, pleaded with her to come to Christ, and embraced her in a remarkable show of love and kindness that only the gospel can provide.
