Francis Chan Says He Rejects Prosperity Gospel, Yet Promotes and Fellowships with the Worst of Them

Francis Chan is a peculiar figure. He is a graduate of John MacArthur’s Master’s Seminary where he was thoroughly educated in the biblical Christian faith and prepared to defend against the very nonsense — such as continuationism — that he is now caught up in.

In a recent video at The Gospel Coalition, Chan explains, quite accurately, why he rejects the Prosperity gospel, “it really sets them up for failure.”

Within two weeks of putting out this video, Chan appeared at a conference with some of the most notorious figures in the prosperity gospel movement — Benny Hinn, Todd White, Lou Engle, Heidi Baker, Bill Johnson, and many others. In fact, you would be hard-pressed to find one speaker at this event, other than Chan, who has ever, once, preached a biblical gospel.

Benny Hinn is one of the running giants of the modern prosperity gospel who — by all discernible standards — is a false prophet, a charlatan, and a fraud. He has been exposed defrauding millions of dollars from his followers, committed fornication with another false prophetess, Paula White, and has, quite literally, prophesied falsely on several occasions.

All of the other speakers — Todd White, Bill Johnson, Lou Engle, Heidi Baker, etc. — fit squarely into this category. They are all false teachers, false prophets, and outright heretics.

But maybe he just went to preach the gospel and not necessarily to promote the other speakers?

You could make that argument if there were any truth to it. But there isn’t. Chan was right up in the middle of it, even calling these frauds “bold men of God.”
