Egalitarianism is the Theological Equivalent to HIV

This is a quote I saw from a friend on Twitter. Michael Foster tweeted this,

Michael Foster, Twitter, Egalitarianism is the theologically equivalent of HIV. It undermines the doctrinal immune system and allows once rejected falsehoods to quickly spread throughout the church.

I’m not sure if he came up with this on his own or heard it somewhere else — I didn’t ask — but it struck a chord with me because it is, well, quite profound. When I saw this, it made me think of all of the female preachers wreaking havoc in the Church — from Beth Moore to Joyce Meyer, from Christine Caine to Priscilla Shirer. These women are, quite accurately, viruses attacking the theological immunity in the Church.

There are several reasons why this profound statement is true. It’s not simply that these women are running around preaching false doctrine — they do. But it’s that the entire theological system of Egalitarianism is unbiblical and creates an imbalance in the system God ordained for the home and the Church.

Foster went on to explain,

Theologically speaking, egalitarianism diminishes or denies that God designed sexual distinctions between male and female. This necessitates an unbiblical anthropology. Generally, it takes the form of neo-gnosticism that has an antagonism view of the physical & favors androgyny.

Foster is correct, the Bible is clear that men and women have distinct roles. God ordained women to be, well, wives and mothers for one thing and commands them to act like women. Further, he forbids them from teaching or having authority over men — this means they are forbidden from preaching and forbidden from leadership offices in the Church (1 Timothy 2:12). Women breaking this forbiddance constitutes rebellion against God.

You can read more about the rebellious woman and the destruction of society here.

Yet, the disease of Egalitarianism has opened the door to far greater evils including homosexuality, effeminacy, and the acceptance of “same-sex attraction” in the Church. When men don’t act like men, this is what happens. You end up with ignorant women and effeminate men in the pulpits.

Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong.

1 Corinthians 16:13
