Christopher Yuan, a well-known Christian author and speaker, is hospitalized after a severe fall that left him paralyzed from the neck down. According to a statement from his mother, doctors performed an MRI before moving forward with surgery in hopes of preventing permanent paralysis.

Yuan rose to prominence in evangelical circles through his testimony of conversion. Once involved in drugs and living as a gay man, he became a Christian while serving a prison sentence and later went on to teach at Moody Bible Institute. His personal story has shaped his ministry, which focuses on sexuality, faith, and discipleship.
Central to his message is what he calls “holy sexuality,” a framework he defines as chastity in singleness or faithfulness in marriage between one man and one woman. This theme, laid out in his book Holy Sexuality and the Gospel, has been the foundation of his writing and speaking, emphasizing a Christian identity rooted in Christ rather than sexual orientation.
Because of his testimony and teaching, Yuan has been widely platformed by leading evangelical organizations such as Revive Our Hearts, Desiring God, Ligonier Ministries, Summit Ministries, and Impact 360. He has also spoken at conferences, seminaries, and churches across the country and abroad, including appearances at Tom Ascol’s The Sword and the Trowel podcast.

His message has drawn both strong support and criticism. Many view his teaching as a clear articulation of biblical sexual ethics, while others have engaged with him critically on how his approach intersects with broader discussions on celibacy, identity, and the experiences of Christians who struggle with same-sex attraction. Yuan has positioned himself apart from those who identify as “gay Christians,” while remaining an active voice in that wider conversation.
News of his fall has drawn significant concern from supporters and ministry partners. His family has asked for prayer as he faces the possibility of permanent paralysis, with surgery now underway to address the severity of his injuries. It is unclear if his paralysis is permanent at this time.
Please pray for him.
