You may be aware by now of the scandal surrounding former Southwestern Seminary president, Adam Greenway and his forced resignation on the premise of incompetency. Following the annual meeting, Greenway went on the offensive attacking the biblical doctrine of Complementarianism and arguing relentlessly that the Baptist Faith and Message does indeed allow for women pastors.

Greenway was slated to leave Southwestern and take a newly-created role at the International Mission Board (IMB) that the Southern Baptist entity created specifically for him to give him a soft landing. But, thankfully, the trustees of the IMB did their jobs and didn’t allow that to happen.

In another twist, O.S. Hawkins, the President Emeritus of Guidestone Financial Services of the Southern Baptist Convention was supposed to take the role of acting president of Southwestern until a new president was named. However, a new president was named before that panned out. That person is David Dockery and Dockery will be sharing presidential functions with Hawkins.

The board of trustees of Southwestern Seminary is now demanding an audit into what they are stating as “potential spending irregularities” after it has been revealed that the school is in a hole financially according to Board Chairman, Danny Roberts.

At this time it is unclear as to what these “potential spending irregularities” are or what they may pertain to, but being that Greenway was cited for “incompetency” and the financial situation at Southwestern Seminary has been largely laid on his shoulders, we will certainly be keeping an eye out for new developments in this.
