NOTRE DAME, INDIANA — In an unsurprising deviation from its proclaimed values, Saint Mary’s College in Notre Dame, Indiana, under the umbrella of the Roman Catholic Church, has enacted a policy that allows transvestite men to gain admission. This move, slated for implementation in Fall 2024, is in direct opposition to the college’s historical commitment to women’s education. Yet, this epitomizes a deeper, more systemic issue within the Roman Catholic Church that has been exposed greatly under the current pope—an institution that has long abandoned Christianity by placing the edicts of the pope and the church hierarchy above the authority of the Scriptures.

According to its newly-adopted non-discrimination policy, Saint Mary’s College “considers admission for undergraduate applicants whose sex is female or who consistently live and identify as women.” Additionally, the school “does not discriminate in admission, employment, or administration of its programs and activities” on the basis of “sexual orientation, gender, gender expression,” or “gender identity.”

This recent policy change at Saint Mary’s is merely a symptom of the Roman Catholic Church’s longstanding departure from a scriptural foundation. The Church, by eschewing the principle of ‘sola Scriptura,’ which asserts the Scriptures as the ultimate authority, has paved the way for such doctrinal shifts. The current Pope’s tenure has only accelerated this departure, embracing ideologies that stand in stark contrast to Biblical teachings, especially regarding sexual morality.

The Roman Catholic Church, under Bergoglio, the current pope, has progressively softened its stance on moral issues, such as homosexuality and divorce, previously deemed non-negotiable even under Catholic dogma. This leniency signifies not just a shift in policy but a profound theological departure. It represents an institution more attuned to pleasing men and keeping them under their control than anything remotely resembling the holiness of God.

The Catholic Church’s redefinition of gender, sexuality, and marriage, as reflected in policies like those of Saint Mary’s College, reveals a deeper crisis—a Church compromising its supposed values for cultural acceptance. This redefinition undermines the clear teachings of the Scriptures, which are the only authoritative foundation for moral and spiritual truth.

These developments highlight a Roman Catholic Church increasingly unmoored from Biblical authority, substituting the truth of Scripture and exposing its fluctuating capitulation to the doctrines of men.
