I wish this were satire, but sadly it isn’t. Just a few years ago, such a headline would be considered outrageous and absurd. But, euthanasia laws in Canada are out of control, and the results are absolutely horrifying. Last year, according to one report, over 10,000 people in Canada ended their lives via euthanasia, a massive increase over the previous year and it doesn’t seem to be slowing down.

The Canadian government is truly leading the way when it comes to the atrocities of legalized euthanasia. In a breathtaking display of moral bankruptcy and callous disregard for human life, the government has not only allowed but actively encouraged the ending of thousands of lives. It’s almost as if they are trying to outdo the most oppressive and tyrannical regimes in history with their reckless policies.

But perhaps the most sickening aspect of this whole debacle is the government’s offer to “help” those who are “desperate” to end their lives. This is not only a gross violation of the government’s duty to protect and preserve human life, but it is also an insult to those who are suffering. Instead of offering support and assistance to those in need, the government is suggesting that death is the only solution to their problems. It’s almost as if they are saying, “If life is too hard for you, we’ll help you escape it.”

But where is the outrage from the Church? Not just the Canadian churches, but the American Evangelical churches that are too consumed with their own petty issues to care about the real atrocities happening in the world. It’s truly disgusting how the Church has ignored this issue, choosing to focus on their so-called “pet issues” like the imaginary epidemic of racism—all in the name of “pro-life from the womb to the tomb”— instead of speaking out against this horror. It’s time for the Church to wake up and start standing up for the sanctity of human life, instead of turning a blind eye to the suffering of others.

Euthanasia is a clear violation of God’s design for human life, and it goes against everything that the Bible teaches about the sanctity of life. Whatever happened to, “You shall not murder” (Genesis 9:6, Exodus 20:13)? Euthanasia is nothing less than murder and it’s a complete debasement of human life.

But, sadly, even churches are playing along with the Canadian government and helping them carry out their mission. Last year, a church in Canada “assisted” an elderly woman in medical suicide, with her family and grandchildren gathered around to watch. The elders at Churchhill Park United voted unanimously to carry out the government-sanctioned medical murder in the sanctuary of the church, sickeningly, right in front of the woman’s grandkids.

But it’s not just the act of euthanasia itself that is troubling. The fact that the Canadian government is offering to help people end their lives is even more disturbing. According to the report in DailyMail, a paraplegic ex-army corporal was told by a Canadian official that if her life was too difficult, the government would help her to kill herself.

“I have a letter saying that if you’re so desperate, madam, we can offer you MAiD, medical assistance in dying,” the paraplegic ex-army corporal testified to Canadian MPs according to DailyMail.

This is a clear violation of the government’s duty to protect and preserve human life, and it shows a complete lack of compassion and care for those who are suffering.

It’s clear that Canada has lost its way when it comes to the issue of euthanasia. The country prides itself on its open-mindedness and tolerance, but in reality, it has the most permissive rules on euthanasia in the world, and the consequences are nothing short of terrifying. It’s time for Canada to reconsider its stance on euthanasia and to return to the values and principles that are rooted in the teachings of God and the Bible. Only then can it hope to avoid the calamitous debasement of human life that is sure to come if it continues down this dangerous path.
