When we read the Scriptures, it’s always amazing exactly how accurately it describes every culture from the beginning of Creation to the end of time, including our modern culture today. When Paul wrote the book of Romans, the “they” he referenced repeatedly were surely the unrighteous unbelievers and hypocrites of his time and times past, but it also perfectly describes the state of the world today.

Particularly, it describes well how those who profess to know God have still traded him out for a false god and worship idols instead of the Risen Christ.

Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen. –Romans 1:24-25

Now a band that claims to be a Christian worship band, #ClimateVigil, is crowdfunding for the release of a major album. But this album is not centered on the worship of Christ–or even a remote acknowledgment of God. This album is a “climate change” album designed to center your worship on…Earth.

On the group’s crowdfunding page, they state, “Climate change hurts everyone, of course, but especially those who are least responsible for it: the poor, our children, and generations yet to be born. This is a serious injustice, and Christians are called to respond — with faith, hope, and love. With prayer, and with action.”

“Like all movements for justice, we need songs to guide us, sustain us, and inspire us. That’s why we are proud to announce that, together with The Porter’s Gate Worship Project, we are creating the first, major Christian worship album to focus on our climate crisis. Top artists have already signed on, and they have been busy writing world-changing songs.”

Of course, God does not share His glory with idols and he will not be mocked. The foolish people involved in this band should repent and turn to Christ for forgiveness before it’s too late.
