Former Megachurch Pastor Says Biblical Separation Was Part of the Reason He Renounced His Faith

The Bible calls Christians to be separate from the world. James 4:4 says “You adulterous people! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.”

God has called his bride to be set apart.

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.

1 Peter 2:9

For whatever reason, this part about being separate seems to be a huge point of contention in the Church. People desire the friendship of the majority — and let’s face it, the majority of the world is lost (Matthew 7:13-14).

Former megachurch pastor, Josh Harris, who recently renounced his faith on social media explains that the part about “being separate” is part of what caused him to apostatize. Harris renounced his faith back in July after apparently caving to the LGBTQ culture — he was then guilted into embracing them and even seen marching alongside them in gay pride marches. And just last week he put out a bizarre video of himself fantasizing over a shirtless male celebrity.
