Kenneth Copeland is arguably one of the most sinister and perverse spiritual frauds on the face of the planet — throughout all of history. A man who has claimed anything from direct revelation from God to “lay hands” on an airplane to heal it to his high-profile meeting with the pope of Rome to affirm Catholicism and ecumenical unity, Copeland has defrauded millions out of millions of dollars (best estimates of around $760 million).

Somehow, in spite of his salacious appetite for money, Copeland has managed to land a place in the top 100 most reputable people in the world. Listed in the 48th spot — though, the order is alphabetical — the 2019 Reputation Poll names Kenneth Copeland while even acknowledging that he “has been identified as preaching a prosperity and abundance message, commonly referred to as the prosperity gospel, which has been criticized by ministers from various denominations.”

So how does a spiritual fraud land such a prominent position on such a poll? Seduction. He has a message of “hope” for a lost and dying world, and he’s found a way to play into the appetites of a carnally-minded individual. Through his prosperity gospel, also known as Word of Faith, he makes endless promises of financial success — most of which never come to fruition but leave the victim in a worse condition than before.

This works in much the same way as government-sponsored welfare — it creates a downward spiral of dependence on the message-giver, in this case, Kenneth Copeland, who promises that if you continue to “sow your seeds” of faith, you will eventually be blessed.

And who’s going to argue with someone who is a living, breathing, walking, talking example of financial success? Kenneth Copeland has sold his soul to Satan — and that’s how he’s managed to win the temporal success of this world.
