The gates of Hell have not prevailed over Christ’s church.

If you’ve been keeping up with the scandal brewing at one of the most notable and visible “Reformed” parachurch ministries of our day, you may have seen by now that G3 has been dissolved.

G3 originally began as a small church conference at Prays Mill Baptist Church near Atlanta in 2013. It was led by Josh Buice, the former pastor of Prays Mill. Over the years, G3 grew into an enormous conference attracting thousands of attendees as the event was held at a major convention center in Atlanta.

The conference attracted some of the biggest names in the modern Reformed-ish church movement—names like Steven Lawson, Voddie Baucham, Paul Washer, and even remotely, John MacArthur. It hosted many other well-known names, too, as well as vendors, book signings, both Christian and secular journalists, and more.

It was a real dog-and-pony show, for sure.

In 2025, former president and former lead pastor of Prays Mill Baptist Church, Josh Buice, was forced to step down after being caught in a social media scandal for anonymously attacking other pastors and church leaders online. It was believed that Buice’s motives were rooted in competitive behavior born out of his leadership of G3.

Just over one year later, the current leadership of G3, who forced Buice to resign, are shutting the doors of G3 after similar behavior was exposed among them.

I covered the details in a previous article, but the current president of G3, Scott Aniol, who was also the teaching pastor at Prays Mill, along with three other elders at Prays Mill, who were also board members of G3, have admitted to being behind an anonymous campaign to smear another pastor at another church while undermining that church’s discipline process.

Here is the statement they posted admitting to the behavior, and asking for forgiveness.

Following this letter sent to Buck’s church and posted online, they also sent out a notification to G3 supporters that they are dissolving G3 effective immediately, and that any recurring payments being made to the ministry would be canceled.

What this clearly demonstrates is that God does not need institutions bearing His name that are a poor witness to the gospel in action. God has no problem tearing down strongholds that poorly represent Him.

And while we owe these men the forgiveness that they have sought, as we are required to do according to Scripture, we should let this stand as a warning that those bearing His name but acting contradictorily to His word will ultimately face the same end—destruction—either in this lifetime or in eternity.

Therefore let anyone who thinks that he stands take heed lest he fall. —1 Corinthians 10:12

G3 has fallen, but the church of Jesus Christ still stands.
