Speaking Proper English is Racist, So Rutgers University Will “Deemphasize Traditional Grammar”

Rutgers College is now caving to the demands of Black Lives Matter — but not in fighting real and actual racism, but fighting the “racism” of proper English. Proper English, as you know, is a product of white supremacy, white privilege, and racism. It must be demolished.

In case you didn’t catch the sarcasm, that was sarcasm. But the headline is real. According to The College Fix, “The English Department at Rutgers University recently announced a list of “anti-racist” directives and initiatives for the upcoming fall and spring semesters, including an effort to deemphasize traditional grammar rules.”

The College Fix, which obtained a copy of an email sent out by the English Department’s Rebecca Walkowitz on “Juneteenth,” says that the email lists “ongoing and future initiatives” to fight “systemic inequities facing black, indigenous, and people of color,” which include, according to The Fix, “incorporating ‘critical grammar’ into our pedagogy.”

This approach challenges the familiar dogma that writing instruction should limit emphasis on grammar/sentence-level issues so as to not put students from multilingual, non-standard ‘academic’ English backgrounds at a disadvantage,” the email states according to The Fix.

This isn’t the first attack on language by leftists. Postmodernism has completely taken over the schools and universities which relegate objective truth in favor of a subjective “anything goes” ideology. Colleges and universities have become nothing more than indoctrination camps for Marxism, Communism, identity politics, and Critical Theory.

Further, it’s not just secular schools that have been given over to this new thought. Many religious schools, including Baptist and Catholic, have embraced leftist subjectivism to the extent of condemning objective, right-wing ideas. Baylor University, a private Baptist school, has openly embraced homosexuality while helping gays develop their sexuality, and Marquette University, a Catholic school, has embraced abortion and supports Planned Parenthood. And Liberty University, the largest private Christian school in the nation, hosted the radical leftist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to spread her Marxist propaganda.

Language is one of the pillars of a civilized society. If the postmodernists can destroy language, then they can render the Constitution meaningless. Further, they can render the Word of God incomprehensible — at least they believe.

We Need to Address the Church’s Bondage to Hollywood

If our church members fall into the habit of frequenting the theatre, we shall soon have them going much further in the direction of vice, and they will lose all relish for the ways of God. If theatre-going became general among professing Christians, it would be the...

If Evangelicals Want to Become Catholic, We Should Let Them Go

Let them go. Really, let them. If your spiritual appetite can be satisfied by the incense-choked pageantry of Rome—by genuflecting before a golden cage of transubstantiated flour—then it was never Christ that you hungered for to begin with. If you're willing to trade...
