Last week, I published a clip on X that unexpectedly went viral. I mean, really viral. The most viral tweet I’ve ever posted. At the time of this writing, it has received well over 8 million views, several thousand likes, comments, and retweets.

And that’s just on my tweet, not including all of the other accounts that hijacked my clip and reposted it as their own.

The tweet was simple—it was just a clip of a run-of-the-mill Episcopal “priestess” who goes by the name “Flourish Klink” and who made the outlandish claim that Jesus was “transgender” and Mary had “assigned Jesus male at birth.” And she said that when Jesus was resurrected, he “transitioned” into his true, transgender self.

The clip went so viral that it was picked up in major national news outlets like The New York Post, The Blaze, The Daily Mail, Town Hall, Sean Hannity, Breitbart, and even international news organizations like The Hungarian Conservative.

And it was retweeted by numerous multi-million-follower accounts. Accounts like Dinesh D’Souza, Libs of TikTok, Senator Mike Lee, Tom Fitton, The Redheaded Libertarian, Insurrection Barbie, Oli London, Nick Freitas, Milo, and countless others.

I’m not pointing this out to toot my horn, not at all. I’m pointing it out to demonstrate how such blatant blasphemy is found to be offensive to so many people, even if those people aren’t religious. But I received one retweet that particularly caught my attention—Glenn Beck.

Beck reposted the clip with his own commentary: “A little more distortion and lies with a side of evil anyone?”

See, the problem with Klink’s tweet isn’t simply that she’s a blasphemer blaspheming. The problem is Christological—she presents a Jesus who is fundamentally different than the Jesus who has revealed Himself to us in Scripture. She presents a false Jesus, a “transgender” Jesus, and then bows down and worships that idol.

But so does Glenn Beck.

Glenn Beck is a Mormon. Beck belongs to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS). And the beliefs about Jesus in the LDS are no less blasphemous than the beliefs about Jesus presented by Klink.

Primarily, the Scriptures teach that God is Trinitarian, that Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man, and that God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit are one God eternally existing as three distinct, uncreated, and coequal persons.

But the Mormon Church completely rejects the doctrine and instead presents a Jesus who was created by God the Father as Satan’s spirit brother. They teach that God the Father has a physical, glorified body of flesh and bone, and that God himself was once a mortal man who “progressed” into a divine being over time.

This progression into divine status is just part of an eternal cycle of human beings who are the spirit offspring of an endless number of gods in the universe, and who can all eventually achieve divine status. And according to Mormonism, Jesus was the example of how that is done.

If that isn’t a lying, blasphemous depiction of Jesus, then neither is what Klink said.

The reason I do what I do isn’t just so everyone can laugh and point. The whole purpose of exposing false teachings is evangelistic in nature. We are called to expose sin and error to the light of the gospel.

“Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them.” —Ephesians 5:11

We expose such darkness to the light of Scripture in the hopes that many will see their sin, repent, and come to Christ, and that those whom God has called will exit the darkness and come to the saving light of the gospel.

That’s it. That’s the purpose.

If we are doing it for any other purpose, our priorities are mixed up.

But that isn’t to say that sometimes mockery isn’t an appropriate response. It is. Clearly, we see this throughout Scripture. Probably the most apparent example is Elijah mocking the prophets of Ba’al. But even then, in that mockery, the point is to point out the absolute absurdity of one’s position under the light of the gospel.

After Elijah demonstrated just how weak and perverse Ba’al was, and how powerful the true living God is, the people fell on their faces and cried out:

“The LORD, he is God; the LORD, he is God!”

So yes, let’s mock the foolishness. Let’s point out how stupid, foolish, and blasphemous it is to call Jesus a “transgender” who was “assigned male at birth” by Mary.

But let’s make sure we’re not teaming up with people who believe Jesus is Satan’s brother to do it.
