Myers Park Baptist Church was founded in 1943 and has stood as an icon in one of the most affluent areas of Charlotte for 83 years. But recently, to reflect its “inclusive” and “ecumenical” nature, the congregation dropped “Baptist” from its name.
However, it currently remains affiliate with the progressive Alliance of Baptists, but goes by the name Myers Park Covenant Church.
Its current “pastor,” if you want to call him that, is Tim Moore, who also led Sardis Baptist Church for over two decades prior to taking his current position at Myers Park.
During their “pride day” sermon in August, which coincided with Charlotte’s annual homosexual pride march, Moore preached a “sermon” saying that the Ethiopian eunich who was baptized was either transgender, queer, or gay—apparently it doesn’t matter which—and that this demonstrates that the first non-Jewish Christian in the church was a member of the LGBTQ community.

And, apparently, this is supposed to erase 2000 years of clear teaching from the Bible that homosexuality is a sin, and that LGBTQ people are just as much Christians as anyone else.
Of course, this is the same church with a sign hanging on their wall that says you can use whichever restroom you identify with.
