Lecrae Says He Hates Words Like “Bible” Because They are “Triggering” to Him

Lecrae, a “Christian” rapper who says he “deconstructed” from Christianity and has now embraced something completely new that doesn’t resemble Christianity at all, says that he hates words like “Bible,” and “discipleship” because these words “trigger” him.

Over the past decade, Lecrae has abandoned Christianity—which his music once reflected—to embrace social justice activism in the name of being “woke.” In fact, Lecrae was one of the first professing Christians to use the term “woke” when Donald Trump announced first his run for the presidency prior to the 2016 election. Since then, the term “woke church” has become a popular slogan among those who subscribe to Critical Race Theory and many others, like pastor Eric Mason, have popularized the term.

Today, it is this “woke church” worldview, which has nothing at all to do with Christianity, that is reflected in Lecrae’s music and performances. In fact, in a recent video clip, Lecrae says that basic Christian terminology is triggering to him, because of his past connection with biblical Christianity.

“And these like things can be triggering,” Lecrae said, “prayer, disciples, Bible. It’s like, oh, trigger, trigger, trigger, trigger. It’s fundamentalism. It’s evangelicalism. I hate it…”

Despite this, he says that these are “ancient spiritual practices” that are “beneficial” yet apparently, they’ve been co-opted by Evangelicalism to mean something other than what he wants them to mean. Clearly, Lecrae’s version of Christianity is open to homosexuality, abortion, and various other godless ideologies, so when he hears terms that he knows in his heart are opposed to his ideological idols—terms like Bible, prayer, and disciples—then he has to deconstruct these terms and remake them in his own image in order for them to be useful to his false religion.
