In October of 2021, the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) Executive Committee (EC) hired the Bradley law firm to provide legal assistance regarding a third-party review conducted by Guidepost Solutions. A former EC staff member recommended the firm due to the urgency of the investigation conducted by the Sexual Abuse Task Force. Bradley’s primary objective was to resolve potential litigation, cooperate with the investigation, and protect the interests of the SBC Executive Committee.

Concerns have been raised about Bradley’s support of organizations and efforts that conflict with traditional Christian values, specifically its involvement with the Nashville Pride festival and other LGBTQ-related groups. But the EC argued that federal law requires the firm to ensure that its employees work in an environment free from “discrimination” which may require them to consider and employ individuals that may not typically be hired by Southern Baptist churches or entities.

Obviously, however, creating a work environment that is “free from discrimination” does not require overtly celebratory acts of lewd sexual behavior. Yet, Bradley continues to celebrate such filth and boast about it on social media. Just last week, Bradley posted a picture on their Facebook page of their employees posing in front of a transgender flag.

Roughly a year later, after these concerns were raised, the SBC still employs Bradley Law Firm to represent the Southern Baptist Convention in its litigations with alleged sex abuse survivors, and this firm is expected to provide objective, unbiased legal support. Does this look like a law firm that is able to protect the interests of a Christian organization when it clearly stands against what the Bible teaches on matters of sexuality?
