Last year, Vance Pitman was selected as the new president of the Southern Baptist Convention’s North American Mission Board (NAMB) Send Network. Pitman was the founder of Hope Church in Las Vegas—a megachurch that drew over 4 thousand in attendance weekly according to its website.

As president of the NAMB Send Network, Pitman now oversees all of the Southern Baptist Convention’s church plants and is responsible for doling out cash to these church plants that your tithe dollars go to support. And one of NAMB’s biggest church planting projects right now is another campus—or “franchise” really—of Pitman’s own Hope Church, but this time, in Alpharetta, GA where Pitman works and NAMB’s headquarters are.

The church’s partnership with NAMB can be seen on its “about” page on its website.

Currently, this new church plant is meeting at the NAMB headquarters in Georgia and the church, itself, has a vision of planting several more churches under its umbrella. Who does this benefit the most? Well, Vance Pitman, the NAMB president, of course. Because that’s how the Southern Baptist Convention works—it exists to benefit those who are in the upper echelon of the ruling class of the denomination and does little to nothing to benefit the actual churches of the Southern Baptist Convention.

So who are the people at Vance Pitman’s new church plant? The lead pastor is Chris Renfro. Chris Renfro is the husband of Catherine Renfro. Who is Catherine Renfro? Well, she is the Director of Evangelism for NAMB—a NAMB employee who works for Vance Pitman.

Bottom line: Vance Pitman is giving your money to his friends and employees to plant a church—that he started in Las Vegas—in Alpharetta, GA, which is now meeting his own office building. This is mutual back-scratching and you’re paying for it. If this doesn’t make you furious, there is something wrong with your moral standards.

But if you’re wondering what kind of church your tithe dollars are supporting at the new Hope Church campus meeting at the NAMB headquarters in Alpharetta, GA, here’s a little taste:

So while your small church is struggling to make ends meet, pay the rent, and keep the lights on while faithfully preaching the unadulterated gospel every single week and receiving no financial support from NAMB, your tithe dollars are going to fund circuses like this that are meant to attract goats to come and sit in the pews of Vance Pitman’s pet projects that benefit himself and his friends only.
