Jen Hatmaker, who first publicly renounced Christianity in an interview with Jonathan Merritt — a gay activist and son of former Southern Baptist Convention president, James Merritt — and says she first questioned Evangelical Christianity because gay people couldn’t have sex with each other, says that Beth Moore is her “mentor.”
Jen Hatmaker, who recently filed for divorce after revealing that her daughter was a flaming lesbian after affirming homosexuality and other sexual perversions for a number of years, recently said on a podcast with Alicia Crosby that the church simply isn’t black enough, gay enough, and transgender enough for her taste.
Now, in her latest episode of deconstructing the Christian faith, Hatmaker asserts that viewing Jesus as a male causes black, brown, and LGBTQ people to be afraid of Him.
“Viewing Jesus as a white man, and God as Father, or, you know, a man period,” Hatmaker bloviates, “emerging from the clouds with this stern disposition, and of this sort of ruling with an iron fist and this powerful, almost punitive approach to humanity generally serves one group of people and one gender, this idea.”

She continues, “which makes it so painful and difficult for black, and brown, and female, and LGBTQ+ communities to see themselves in this personification. Not just see themselves, but feel safe with this God.”
It has been really interesting to watch Hatmaker’s transition into a de-constructed religion over the last several years. She has moved from being a mostly happy-go-lucky person to a person filled with hate and rage toward other people and Christians.
