Union Theological Seminary, the home of infamous Black Liberation Theologian James Cone, is well known for its ritual confession to plants for the forgiveness of environmental harm that they’ve caused. Union seminary is by far one of the most downgraded seminaries in the US today. It has completely abandoned the gospel in favor of social justice. It comes, therefore, as no surprise that the seminary would abandon God in favor of idols—like abortion.

In a recent panel discussion, the school—which also recently hosted Russell Moore, former president of the SBC’s Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission—argued that John 10:10 is a proof text for pro-abortion theology.

One of the significant ways in which many African-American women…have been oppressed is through their reproductive health system. Whether that is through forced pregnancies…forced surogacies, or through forced sterility.

These have been legal, and these have exactly the ways that Puerto Ricans, Latinas, Native American women, various nations and African American women, have been oppressed.

And so Liberation Theology would say first of all that’s a problem. God wants you to be liberated in areas around which you have been oppressed. But it’s not just for the sake of countering oppression, right, because it’s also about quality of life.

And Dr. Jones put it very well, that so much of of the conversation on abortion is about birth and not about life…and a New Testament Scriptures says you know Jesus said I came that you might have life and have it more abundantly. And so much of these conversations are tied to not wanting everyone to have abundant life.

Of course, the Scripture which she refers to, John 10:10, is completely twisted and has absolutely nothing to do with your perceived self-centered “quality of life,” but rather eternal life through Jesus Christ.
