Unless you’re on a hiatus from the news–and let’s be real, that’s a good place to be right now for some of us–you’re probably aware that Harvard University just appointed an atheist as the school’s chaplain. Harvard University was the first among the Ivy League schools and was founded for the purpose of educating clergy and meeting the educational needs of Christians in the New World.
When liberalism takes root, it destroys everything–from top to bottom, inside and out. It doesn’t stop. Its purpose is the complete destruction of all things conservative.
Yet, notorious Christian leftist, Tim Keller, finds himself congratulating him and wishing him well.
First, I want to be clear that I do not take the position that a Christian cannot hold limited, or even in certain situations, close friendships with non-believers. The dividing line in this situation would be whether or not the friendship causes any compromise in the gospel or the truth of Scripture. That being said, more often than not, it does.

The fact that Tim Keller would congratulate an atheist chaplain and wish him well in the position he holds is not only absurd for a professing Christian, it is a complete contradiction to the witness Christians should have in Christ. Let’s just be real; the atheist was placed in the position of chaplain to turn people away from God.
Should we wish that well?
Would Tim Keller wish his friend well if they were placed in the top CEO position at Planned Parenthood?
Would Tim Keller congratulate his friend if they were nominated as Exterminator in Chief of the Jews?
While some of his words and actions would be consistent with a resounding “yes, he would,” something tells me he knows better than to do that–at least publicly. But can’t we see the inconsistency here? Why would we congratulate someone who just took the role of “Captain” on the School Bus to Hell?
