Ed Litton, who now holds the top office in the Southern Baptist Convention, has been under fire ever since Reformation Charlotte broke the story that he had taken sound bites–and terrible ones at that–and essentially plagiarized former president JD Greear in a sermon downplaying the sinfulness of homosexuality by insisting that the Bible only “whispers” about it.

Since the story broke, several major news outlets picked up our story and the news then went viral. Some savvy social media users were able to piece together clips from his entire sermon with Greear’s entire sermon, showing that the two sermons were nearly identical. That Greear preached his a few months prior, it became obvious that Litton ripped off Greear’s (awful) sermon.

In our continuing exposé of Ed Litton’s “Sermongate” scandal, while we could expose every single sermon in his Romans series, we believe that this last one (for now) is sufficient evidence to call for a real and good explanation or to bring disciplinary action against him. This sermon is plagiarism of JD Greear’s Romans 14:1-9 sermon.
