If you don’t think the Church is under persecution, you need to wake up. Churches all over the world are facing increasing hostility for practicing a core belief–gathering for corporate worship. This isn’t just happening in China, the Middle East, or Russia. This is happening right in our own American back yard. It’s happening in Canada. And if you don’t think it can happen here, it can, and will, and has.
For now, our Supreme Court has put a stop to the arrests and persecution of our churches and gatherings. For a while, though, churches all over America, particularly in far-left states like California, including John MacArthur’s Grace Community Church, saw relentless attacks from government tyranny attempting to shut down their services.
But our neighbor, Canada–which is supposed to be a free, Constitutional republic similar to ours–is arresting pastors left and right and throwing them in jail for refusing to shut down their churches in the name of “public health.”
This past weekend, Calgary police arrested Pastor Tim Stephens of Fairview Baptist Church in Alberta and threw him in jail because he refused to limit his church gathering and force his congregation into face masks.
