The Fundamental Economist — The land of Shinar was vile and its first king would be a theological type of anti-christ: A despot, representing himself as the messiah/savior, promoting a false gospel/religion, harshly discriminating those who reject him, and compelling obedience by force from those who follow him.
Using his false gospel as a tool of manipulation or outright brutality, this false messiah demanded worship. Those who subjected themselves to this, sacrificed all to him for temporary gain, but would ultimately incur the wrath of the true messiah. Those who resisted his false claims and worshiped the promise of the true messiah (Genesis 3:15) would find tribulation here on earth (Revelation 6:9) but great reward in eternity (Revelation 2:7).
The temporary gain was the satisfaction of material needs, but never to the extent offered by God through obedience to Him. The principles of production (property, labor and ingenuity) were perverted by despotic use of a false religon to glorify man instead of God. The moral/religious perversion was used to justify the abrogation of “be fruitful, multiple, replenish and subdue” Genesis 1:28 and “Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.” Romans 1:21
Nimrod was his name and he is the progenitor of the world system that will not be defeated until the Lord returns.
