A YouTube channel calling itself “JOHN MACARTHUR WORLD” is currently drawing hundreds of thousands of views by producing and promoting videos that are not only misleading, but outright deceptive.

These videos are presented as if they contain teachings from Pastor John MacArthur, but in reality, they are generated using artificial intelligence to imitate his voice and likeness. The channel is not affiliated with MacArthur or Grace to You in any way.

Here’s an example:

What’s happening here is not a case of old sermons being reposted or shared out of context. This is something much more dishonest. The content is artificially created to sound like MacArthur, using synthesized speech that mimics his tone and cadence, and pairing it with clickbait titles that are designed to provoke and draw attention. Viewers are led to believe that they are hearing MacArthur himself, when in fact, they are listening to something entirely fabricated.

This kind of deception is serious. It’s more than just misrepresentation—it’s a form of impersonation that undermines the integrity of a trusted voice in the Church. John MacArthur has spent decades building a ministry rooted in sound biblical teaching. For someone to take his name and likeness and use it to create false content, even if cloaked in vaguely Christian language, is both unethical and spiritually harmful.

Can We Get Over John Piper Already?

It seems that over the last several years, Evangelicalism has taken a sharp turn in leadership, leaving many empty chairs that were once filled with prominent voices. I think this turn started in 2017 when we lost R.C. Sproul. He was a voice the church looked to for...

Heresy of the Day #24: Generational Curses

I recently saw a video clip of false teacher Kathryn Krick claiming to free a woman of the “generational curses” of abuse, and it was difficult to watch. The woman was obviously hurt, sad, and noticeably emotional. And here was Krick, exploiting this poor woman for...

Remember COVID? Remember the evangelical talking heads—Russell Moore, David French, Ed Stetzer—aggressively pushing us to “love our neighbors” by wearing dirty face masks? Doubled up, maybe. Telling us that we must “do the right thing” by risking our own lives,...
