SBC President J.D. Greear Promotes Word of Faith Heretic, Christine Caine

by | Jun 7, 2019 | Blog, The Church | 0 comments

Sex trafficking is bad. Watching porn is bad. And watching television shows that include pornographic scenes — like Game of Thrones — is also bad. But, as Christians, there is not one place in Scripture that commands us to align with false teachers and heretics to achieve a noble cause.

Southern Baptist President J.D. Greear, however, likes to regularly set aside the Scriptures to advance some kind of culturally-accepted cause. From softening up on homosexuality and calling on Christians to stand up for LGBT rights to accepting those who support abortion-promoting politicians in our ranks, Greear’s controversies seem to be never-ending.

Now, Greear is promoting one of the most nefarious of the Prosperity Gospel lady-preachers, Hillsong’s very own Christine Caine.

For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. So it is no surprise if his servants, also, disguise themselves as servants of righteousness. Their end will correspond to their deeds.

2 Corinthians 11:13-15

Sure, stopping sex-trafficking is a good and noble cause — but Christians fight injustices with the gospel. The gospel is something that Christine Caine doesn’t have, and largely something absent from the entire Hillsong conglomerate. Their gospel consists of works-righteousness and has more in common with the Roman Catholic Church than true Christianity. This is something the president of the largest Protestant denomination in America should know.

Our primary fight against sin is with the gospel. Sure, there is civil government to step in when severe injustice takes place — and we support that. But our battle is not against flesh and blood. We fight abortion with the gospel, we don’t need the Roman Catholic Church for that. We fight racism with the gospel, we don’t need Critical Race Theory or Marxism for that. We fight sexual sin with the gospel, we don’t need feminism for that. The only solution to sin is the gospel of Jesus Christ — something that false teachers and false churches do not have.

For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.

Ephesians 6:12
