JD Greear Says It’s Okay to Vote For Abortion-Promoting Politicians

JD Greear is certainly a peculiar individual. Almost anything he says reflects his lack of qualification to not only lead the Southern Baptist Convention, but even a church. It is abundantly clear that JD Greear sees grave sin as a secondary issue that needs to be placed on the back burner in the name of “harmony” and “unity.”

Earlier this year, Greear preached a sermon which equated sexual immorality and homosexuality with less grievous sins such as boasting. Later in the same sermon, he called on Christians to stand up for LGBT rights. Now, Greear is telling people that so long as you’ve weighed out the options, it’s okay to vote for a Democrat who supports the expansion of abortion.

In an interview with the Christian Post, Greear states,

If you feel like that at the end of the day Trump is the right one or the better of the options, be clear about the dignity of the immigrant. Be clear about the need for righteousness and purity in our leaders. Be clear about how much you dislike him speaking in a way that denigrates other people and doesn’t respect their dignity, whether it is political opponents or people from other nations.

On the other side, if at the end of the day you look at it and feel like whoever the Democratic candidate is, you feel like that of all the different things, this is the better of the options, well that’s great. Make sure you’re clear about the wickedness of abortion. Make sure you’re clear about the preciousness of religious liberty and the right of conscience, and the fact that people need to have the dignity to make their own choices and to provide for themselves. Just make sure you’re clear about whatever it is that is on the other side from where you voted.

The absurdity that is rampant in these progressive-minded social justice warrior types in the Southern Baptist Convention is appalling to say the least. What these people don’t understand is that while Donald Trump may be a personally immoral man, he isn’t trying to legislate his personal immorality into national policy — the Democrats are. The Democrats’ endgame is to remove any remnant of God or morality from the country. From Abortion to gay rights, from feminism to wealth redistribution, the Democrats are hell-bent on removing God from the world.

No, JD Greear, it is NOT okay to vote for a Democrat. It is NOT okay to set sin issues aside. You are calling on the church to put gospel evangelism above all else — I would agree with that. But you cannot do that while overlooking sin. Supporting Democrat politics is sin — unrepentant sin — and those who engage in it should be placed under church discipline and ultimately excommunicated. It is NOT a secondary issue. You cannot be a Christian and support Democrat politics.

Can We Get Over John Piper Already?

It seems that over the last several years, Evangelicalism has taken a sharp turn in leadership, leaving many empty chairs that were once filled with prominent voices. I think this turn started in 2017 when we lost R.C. Sproul. He was a voice the church looked to for...
