Federal Court Rules “Mis-gendering” Not Protected By First Amendment, No Religious Exemptions

by | Mar 9, 2020 | LGBTQ Issues, News, Politics, Social-Issues

An Ohio federal court has ruled that the refusal to accept and participate in postmodern gender ideology is not protected by the first amendment and that there are no religious exemptions.

Regardless of your religious beliefs, Jewish Magistrate Judge Karen Litkovitz ruled in favor of gender ideology and the ruling was upheld by Judge Susan J. Dlott in the District Court for the Southern District of Ohio.

The ruling was in response to a complaint filed by Shawnee State University philosophy professor Nicholas Meriweather who argued that he was wrongfully fired for refusing to use the preferred pronouns of a student on campus. Meriwether received a written reprimand for “violating” the school’s “nondiscrimination policy.”

Meriwether rightly argued that he did not discriminate and treated the student like any other biological male student.

School officials argued that his use of preferred pronouns on campus was a part of his job responsibilities as a professor on campus. Obviously, catering to queer ideology is part of a professor’s duties but catering to one’s religious ideology is unacceptable.

Meriwether stated that he is evaluating other options in light of the ruling and he and his attorneys will decide if they intend to appeal the ruling.
