Low Country Community Church sports the message, “Wherever you’re from, there’s a place for you here,” on the very top of their home page. Yet, for Taylor Burch, a blind man with a service dog, he was told he had to leave.
Burch, who is 29 and legally blind, was turned away the Church on Buckwalter Parkway. Someone at the church led him away from the rest of the congregation into another room, closed the door on him and told him “you can’t have that dog in here,” Burch told the Island Packet.
The church claims it did nothing wrong citing religious organizations’ exemption from the Americans With Disabilities Act.
His sister posted the following rant on Facebook describing the incident.
