There is nothing more racist than supporting a politician that stands for everything you claim to disagree with simply because you share the same skin color. Dwight McKissic, a prominent and outspoken Southern Baptist pastor who spends the majority of his life railing against his imaginary epidemic of “White supremacy,” has turned his back on the gospel, the Church, and Jesus Himself to throw his support behind the newly-confirmed Supreme Court justice, Ketanji Brown Jackson, for no other reason than that she is Black.

The epidemic of Black-on-White racism is not unique to just Dwight McKissic. The racial hatred of White people by not only leftist Black leaders, but also from the “woke” White liberals in the denomination, has its roots in Critical Race Theory.

Critical Race Theory (CRT) emerged as an offshoot of Critical Theory, a neo-Marxist philosophy that has its roots in the Frankfurt School, and its methods are drawn from Karl Marx and Sigmund Freud. CRT teaches that institutional racism exists within every structure of society and that these structures are intrinsically designed in such a manner as to protect and preserve “white supremacy” in our culture. Further, CRT does not rely on factual statistics or objective evidence to support the theory, instead, it depends on anecdotal evidence and personal experience.

CRT has now infected the Southern Baptist Convention and Evangelicalism to such a degree that it’s impossible for such men as McKissic to view anything except through the lens of racial animosity. Previously, McKissic re-tweeted and agreed with a post by another prominent racial agitator, Jemar Tisby—who now works for Ibram X. Kendi, one of the world’s premier pro-LGBTQ Critical Race Theorists—that admitted skin color was the primary reason for supporting Brown Jackson’s appointment. Jemar Tisby is also a contributor to The Gospel Coalition.

The movement that has spawned from Critical Race Theory, known as “antiracism,” is a movement that has taken many in the Southern Baptist Convention captive. It is a prime example of what the Scriptures call “vain philosophy” and “empty deceit,” (Colossians 2:8) which leads Baptist pastors, like George Mason, to believe that those who oppose it are simply out on a power trip.

There is simply nothing that the Church has faced throughout history—various heresies including attacks on the deity of Christ, false gospels of works righteousness, and attacks on the sufficiency of Scripture—that has caused more division than CRT. CRT is the embodiment of nearly every heresy that has ever entered the Church. It’s powerful, deceptive, and deadly. And it’s designed in such a way that it is self-defensive, meaning that opposing it is, in and of itself, proof of its validity.

It’s time for Southern Baptist leaders to stand up and separate from these provocateurs of this malicious and malignant heresy. Instead, we have our leaders coddling these men, platforming them, and validating their hatred of God and attacks on His image with their racism. Dwight McKissic has proven that he has no identity in Christ and the body of believers, His primary identity is with his ethnicity. He should be treated as such.
