In a tangible reminder of the broken world we inhabit, a harrowing incident unfolded at Joel Osteen’s Lakewood Church, a venue noted for its false prosperity gospel teachings—a message that perverts the biblical gospel. This tragedy, where a woman armed with a long gun opened fire, not only cast a shadow over this particular synagogue of Satan but has also ignited a conversation on the deeper spiritual malaise afflicting our society.

The assailant, identified as a woman in her thirties, entered the building with a 5-year-old child and initiated a sequence of violence that thankfully ended with her being neutralized by off-duty police officers working as security. The altercation resulted in injuries to the child and another individual, both of whom found themselves caught in a scenario far removed from the ostensible sanctuary of peace they presumably sought.

This incident transcends the mere act of violence, it serves as a grim marker of human depravity and the urgent need for divine intervention. The setting, Lakewood Church, has been a subject of controversy, notably for its alignment with the prosperity gospel, which distorts the true gospel’s message into one of material gain rather than spiritual salvation. Such teachings contrast sharply with the biblical admonition to seek treasures in heaven rather than earthly wealth, a core doctrine of true Christianity that emphasizes sacrifice and submission to God’s word.

This tragic event also spotlights the importance of the right to self-defense. The swift action by the off-duty officers undoubtedly prevented further loss of life, illustrating the critical role that armed, responsible citizens can play in protecting the innocent. This right, enshrined in our constitution, is not merely a political stance but a fundamental aspect of maintaining safety and justice in a fallen world.

The incident at Lakewood Church brings to light the stark reality of human sinfulness and the dire consequences of straying from scriptural truths. It is a vivid illustration of the chaos and suffering that ensue when society drifts away from the moral and ethical guidelines set forth in the Bible. This tragedy, occurring in a place that has clearly departed from orthodox biblical Christian teachings, invites reflection on the importance of adhering to the true Gospel—one that centers on repentance, redemption, and the hope found in Christ alone.

While the world continues to chant mantras of gun control, the need for a Savior has never been more apparent. The events at Lakewood Church serve as a somber reminder that our struggle is not only against flesh and blood but against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. What better way to get Americans on board with gun control than to have someone open fire in America’s largest “church,” and have its “pastor” start calling for it? This is simply demonic.

In confronting the reality of human depravity—something that Lakewood Church and its “pastor,” Joel Osteen never do—we are reminded of the gospel’s power to transform hearts and renew minds. In the clip below, Joel Osteen explains that he doesn’t know why these things happen, but the Bible tells us why they happen. The gospel is the only true solution to the darkness of this world, but rights, responsibilities, and, of course, laws serve a vital role in protecting and defending the innocent while punishing the wicked.
