Dallas, NC —Jordan Shortridge, 28, has been arrested and charged with the embezzlement of more than $470,000 from the Dallas Church of God in Gaston County, NC. This incident has come to light after a detailed investigation by the Dallas, NC Police Department, which suggests that the alleged embezzlement dates back to 2018.

Shortridge, the grandson of the church’s long-serving pastor, is reported to have been actively involved in the church’s activities, particularly in the audio-visual department and as a drummer. Despite his involvement in church activities, the police have not confirmed whether he was a paid staff member.

The situation came to the fore after the church’s accounting department, noticing discrepancies, initiated an audit in 2021. The audit revealed unexplained withdrawals and PayPal transactions indicative of embezzlement. This discovery led to further police investigation.

The police chief has indicated that the investigation is ongoing, and there may be additional charges or individuals involved. The delay in the church reporting the suspected embezzlement to the authorities has also raised questions.

Jordan Shortridge has been released on a $25,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on January 2nd. The church community, while dealing with this unfortunate situation, continues to uphold its faith and responsibilities. This incident serves as a reminder of the biblical principle that no one is above the law and the importance of stewardship and accountability in all aspects of life, including church administration.
