Voting for Child Killers is Not a Matter of Conscience, It’s Sin That Must Be Repented of

Since the Supreme Court’s decision to strike down Roe earlier this year, Evangelical leftists have come out of the woodwork exposing themselves showing just how aligned they are with the godless policies of the left. Prior to the decision, Evangelicals would justify voting for liberals lambasting conservatives for being “single-issue voters” voting solely on the basis of abortion policy. These same people would argue that conservatives can’t do anything about abortion anyways, so we shouldn’t throw away our vote.

Besides the fact that this argument has now been proven demonstrably false, and that there are many conservatives and a growing conservative movement to end abortion, I’ve long argued that the entire liberal platform itself is completely opposed to Christianity and is in rebellion against God. Voting for these people is an affirmation that one is aligned with the platform if not entirely, at least significantly.

And post-Roe Evangelicalism has proven that.

In fact, the same liberals that have been pushing a “neutral” approach to voting down our throats for the past decade or more on this justification have now actually come out exposing themselves to be in favor of at least some legal abortions, if not fully in favor of it. One example is Marvin Olasky, who contributes to John Piper’s Desiring God ministry, who has defended the legalization of abortion while another Southern Baptist pastor, Dwight McKissic, has also called for legalization. Further, the SBC’s ERLC president, Brent Leatherwood, argues for decriminalizing mothers who seek them as board members of Mark Dever’s 9Marks ministry favorably “liked” multiple pro-abortion tweets.

What we’ve seen happen over the last few months post-Roe is an unmasking of wolves in the Church like we’ve not seen in recent history. Even if the decision has no effect on abortion in our lifetimes, the fact that these leftists now have to scramble to find a new hiding spot is telling. Previously, they could hide behind Roe v. Wade and point to it as proof that abortion is the “law of the land so let’s focus elsewhere.” But now that it’s gone, they’ve been forced to take a side on abortion—and many have chosen abortion.

But, as previously stated, it isn’t just abortion that places the left outside of the reach of biblical Christianity. Indeed, the entire platform is at odds with Christian values. With the growing influence of the LGBTQ movement in our culture, particularly that which is geared toward children, protecting innocent children should be of the highest priority for Christians.

The Democratic party and the liberal agenda are, at its core, radically opposed to the standard of morality set forth in Scripture. Whether it be the continual expansion of the slaughtering of innocent children in the womb, the clamoring for the promotion of homosexuality and other forms of sexual perversions, including feminism, or the insistent push for redistributive theft, it goes without saying that everything the Democrat party stands for is biblically immoral. Jesus did not die for these things, he died because of these things–to free us from them.

What does this mean for a Christian? Is voting for liberals a matter of conscience? Let’s be clear: your salvation does not rest upon your politics. It is the other way around. Your politics are an outworking of your faith—and if you are a born-again Bible-believing Christian, your political ideology will reflect that.

If you claim to be a Christian, transformed by the power of the Holy Spirit and bought by the blood of Jesus Christ, the Scriptures say that you will be given a new heart (Ezekiel 36:26) and you are being sanctified unto good works (Ephesians 2:10). So let me spell this out for you.

The Apostle Paul asks the rhetorical question in Romans 6:1, “Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound?” He answers this question in the next verse with an emphatic “no.” This means you cannot be a Christian while supporting the slaughter of innocent children, gay rights, gay propaganda, “gay Christianity,” theft (redistribution of wealth), lawlessness (i.e. open borders), a complete and total lack of individual responsibility (i.e. nanny state welfare system, single-payer insurance, etc.), or the endless sweeping away of our right to worship God freely. If you support this godless ideology, or support candidates that do, then you should expect to be treated as slaves to sin rather than slaves to righteousness.
