The world is at enmity with God, and quite frankly, nobody cares. The world loves the things that God hates. And one thing the world really adores is someone who is bold enough to stand up to God and question who He is and declare His ways invalid.

One person who did this and did it well is Rachel Held Evans. Evans masterfully questioned the Word of God in such a way that not only the world loved and agreed with, but even so far as to woo Christians into questioning their own beliefs. Christian leaders fell for her. She challenged theologians seductively. Where the Scriptures call us to mark and avoid these wicked false teachers, Evangelical leaders would interact with her giving her credibility.

Newsflash! Rachel Held Evans is in Hell. Barring some kind of last-minute repentance — which is highly unlikely — Evans entered eternity rebelling against the true God and the true Jesus revealed to us in Scripture. Simply put, she was an idolater — she created for herself a god of her own making. A god who is accepting of sin; sins like homosexuality, abortion, and even idolatry. It isn’t enough to simply claim Christ and profess salvation through Him. You must worship the right Jesus. You can’t rename Satan to Jesus, worship Him, and expect to enter the kingdom of God.

Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.

1 Corinthians 6:9-10

Yet, this is exactly what Held Evans did. The Bible is clear — we will know false teachers by their fruit (Matthew 7:15-20).

Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. You will recognize them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? So, every healthy tree bears good fruit, but the diseased tree bears bad fruit. A healthy tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a diseased tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus you will recognize them by their fruits.

This past weekend, the world exalted Rachel Held Evans. Homosexuals, homosexual activists, abortionists, feminists — they all gathered to mourn the loss of one the world’s premier idolaters. Gay activist and idolater, Matthew Vines, served “communion” at her funeral.

Vines describes himself as a “gay Christian” and argues that despite what the Word of God says, God is okay with homosexuality.

Another feminist activist, Nadia Bolz-Weber officiated the funeral, calling it “holy to God.”

Again, their god is not the God of the Bible — it is an idol. Their god is tolerant of sin and requires no repentance or faith. Their god is Satan. While Rachel Held Evans is glorified and exalted by the God-hating world of idolaters, sadly, Rachel is in Hell weeping and gnashing her teeth. No longer is she able to continue deceiving people, though the damage through her writings will last indefinitely. As people continue to worship and serve their idols of sin-tolerant gods, it is important to remember that you and I are no less sinners, and unless you repent, you too will likewise perish.

And he answered them, “Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans, because they suffered in this way? No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.  Or those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them: do you think that they were worse offenders than all the others who lived in Jerusalem? No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.”

Luke 13:3-5

While the world — and even a large portion of Christendom, including Evangelicalism — will complain about how “insensitive” this post is, people are dying in their sins daily. People are entering Hell daily. The urgency must be recognized.
