HICKORY, NC — An interfaith coalition pro-amnesty pro-open borders advocates are planning to host a screening of the film, SantuarioFilm.com — an illegal immigration propaganda film — at 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 1, at Belk Centrum on the campus of Lenoir-Rhyne University in Hickory.

According to the film website, the movie depicts a woman, Juana Luz Tobar Ortega, who has lived in North Carolina for the last six years and has “checked in with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) annually and received a stay of deportation. But in April of 2017, she was told without warning that she had 30 days to leave the country or be deported.”

However, what they don’t tell you is that Juana is here illegally and has been for two decades. The film’s website paints Juana as having a clean criminal record but the fact remains that she does not. In fact, by default, being in the country illegally is illegal and by definition, criminal.

According to the Greensboro News & Record, Juana has been illegally harbored by churches and “was the first undocumented immigrant in North Carolina to seek sanctuary at a church and doesn’t know when, or if, she’ll be able to leave this place for the freedom that exists for everyone else outside these walls.”

Painting her as a “victim” of our sovereign nation’s border and immigration laws — which, let’s be clear, she is not — the film attempts to persuade people to turn a blind eye to the serious problem the country has with illegal immigrants in the state of North Carolina.
