As Christians, we live in a world that is characterized by moral decay and the persecution of believers. It can be easy to feel overwhelmed and discouraged by the state of our world, but as believers, we have a hope that cannot be shaken.

The Bible tells us that our hope is rooted in the person and work of Jesus Christ. Through him, we have been reconciled to God and given the hope of eternal life (John 3:16). This hope is not based on our own abilities or accomplishments, but on the finished work of Christ on the cross. No matter what trials or hardships we may face in this life, this hope cannot be taken away from us (Romans 8:38-39):

For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

One of the reasons that we can have this unshakeable hope is that we know that God is sovereign over all things. This means that he is in control of all events and circumstances, and nothing happens outside of his will (Ephesians 1:11). As Christians, we can trust that God is working all things together for our good and for his glory (Romans 8:28):

And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.

This does not mean that we will never face difficulties or persecution. In fact, the Bible tells us that we will face trials and tribulations as believers (John 16:33). But even in the midst of these difficult times, we can have hope because we know that God is with us and will never forsake us (Deuteronomy 31:6).

In fact, the Bible even tells us that suffering can be a blessing in disguise. It can refine our faith and make us more like Christ and, as it the Scriptures tell us in James 1:2-4, we should count it all joy. Romans 8:17 tells us that as children of God, we become “fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him.” And even though we may not understand why we are going through difficult times, we can trust that God has a plan and a purpose for us.

As Christians, we also have the privilege of sharing this hope with others. We are called to proclaim the good news of the gospel and urge people to trust in Christ for salvation (Matthew 28:19-20). Through our words and actions, we can help others experience the same hope and peace that we have found in Christ.

As Christians, as joint heirs with Christ, we have a hope that is rooted in the person and work of Jesus Christ. This hope is not based on our own abilities or the circumstances of this world, but on the finished work of Christ on the cross. We can have confidence in this hope because we know that God is sovereign over all things and is working all things together for our good and for his glory. We also have the privilege of sharing this hope with others and urging them to trust in Christ for salvation. Even in the midst of the moral decay and persecution of our world, we can have hope because our hope is in Christ.
