Rick Warren, the former pastor of Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, CA, boasted one of the largest Southern Baptist churches in the nation. Rick Warren has an enormous amount of influence within Evangelicalism. Rising to stardom in the late ’90s and early 2000s with his “Purpose Driven” series of books, he set Southern Baptists and Evangelicals on an Emergent “church growth” trajectory that would infect churches across the theological spectrum.

A few weeks ago, he preached his final sermon.

In the time since Warren’s retirement, several videos have surfaced of Warren saying or doing unbiblical things. In one recently surfaced video, Warren gave a message to Mars Hill Church after its pastor, false teacher Mark Driscoll, stepped down due to inappropriate behaviors. In that message, Warren told Mars Hill to give their leaders 10 percent grace—it’s unclear where he pulled the ten percent number from, it certainly didn’t come from Scripture—because we’re “all humans” or whatever.

But this isn’t a case of just a few slip-ups here or maybe a minor misunderstanding of a biblical teaching there—Mark Driscoll was a serially unrepentant blasphemer who regularly said things like he saw visions from God of his church members being raped or committing adultery. He used these so-called “visions from God” to control people in his church. This is what Rick Warren wants us to give “10 percent grace” to because “most of you wouldn’t even be saved” if it weren’t for Mark Driscoll.

Last June, Warren announced, with praise from the former Southern Baptist Convention president, JD Greear, he was retiring and named Andy Wood as his successor. And Andy Wood, like Greear and his successor, Ed Litton, also apparently believes that the Scriptures whisper about homosexuality.

How the Church Failed at Dismantling the Transgender Movement

For years now, the modern transgender movement hasn’t operated like a loose collection of ideas. It’s functioned like a system—predictable, coordinated, and disturbingly efficient. Not chaos. Not confusion. A process. A conveyor belt—the transgender conveyor belt—as...
