Over the years, I’ve observed a number of Evangelical “thought-leaders” publish their musings about social issues while contending that both progressivism and conservatism are equally valid ways to express one’s Christian faith and that true biblical faith lies somewhere on the spectrum between the right and the left. As absurd as that sounds, progressive Evangelicals have been pushing this notion for years. This is the first in a series we will be publishing remembering these public musings in the wake of the hopeful Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.

First up, Tim Keller, who published a Twitter thread contending that the Bible calls abortion a sin, but it doesn’t actually tell us the best way—conservative policy or Democrat policy—to reduce abortions. Keep in mind that essentially what Keller is saying here is that the Bible doesn’t tell us that it is the government’s duty to outlaw abortion (conservative) and that giving free handouts (Democrat policies) could be equally viable, according to his knowledge of Scripture.

Keller’s relentless work to unite the church under the umbrella of social progressivism seems to have worked. At least one New York politician who has a perfect score from Planned Parenthood and has extreme pro-abortion and pro-LGBTQ pro-“drag queen story hour” views calls Tim Keller her pastor.

And this is what happens: Tim Keller must not think it’s that bad so, it must not be that bad. And then we recommend Tim Keller to our church members, so we must not really think it’s that bad either. Therefore, we can just agree to disagree on these minor issues and get along just fine. This is how positions in our churches are weakened over time and eventually, biblical morality is abandoned altogether.

Yuh-Line Niou is a New York State assembly member and is now running for U.S. Congress. Niou’s views on both abortion and LGBTQ are extreme, un-Christian, and certainly worthy of absolute disgust. In Keller’s article that she quotes, he attempts to argue that unity between conservatives and progressives in the Church is the biblical approach, despite the fact that the two groups have contradictory standards of morality.

Niou’s affinity toward defending abortion “rights” at all costs should alone be enough to disqualify her from church membership.

But if that isn’t bad enough, perhaps her staunch advocacy of child grooming through drag queen story hour would be enough to get her booted from the church?

Nope! Apparently, not enough. As recently as March, she still claims that Tim Keller is her pastor.
