If there is anything that has Evangelicalism in its grips tighter than the woke church movement, it’s the LGBTQ movement. Actually, the LGBTQ movement is a subset of the woke movement—it is rooted in the same Marxist ideology as Critical Race Theory.
And it has deceived so many people into believing that its movement is worthy of praise and celebration.
Eerdmans Publishing, which is known for publishing a wide range of popular Evangelical works including William Lane Craig, N.T. Wright, and even several Southern Baptist authors, is now promoting LGBTQ pride month by recommending a reading list of LGBTQ “voices” for Christians to indulge in.
In a recent Twitter thread, Eerdmans tells followers that “Regardless of your doctrinal and ethical convictions, Pride Month is a good time for listening to LGBTQ+ voices.” I’m going to push back on that a bit and say, no, I don’t think “pride month” or any month is a good time to amplify the rebellious voices of sexual immorality. It isn’t the words of homosexuals that the Church needs to feed on, it’s the Word of God.

After removing the original tweet and reposting it, Eerdmans complained that several of its followers had engaged in “vitriol” against it and its employees for “changing its position” on homosexuality and going over to the “darkside.” Eerdmans then explained that “For our conservative Christian readers and friends who may be disturbed by the slander of the revilers, we want to explain the misunderstandings they voiced.”
The company also explained that they have long published contradictory theological works and that by doing so, they are “serving the ecumenical Church.” However, Eerdmans explained that:
The problem with Eerdmans position, however, is that the company has most definitely slid further to the left over the years. That’s how it always starts—listening. That was the problem with the serpent and the woman in the garden of Eden. The serpent said to the woman, and the next verse says and the woman said to the serpent and it was over.
You do not have a conversation with Satan and his emissaries. God’s word is forever settled in heaven. These issues are not up for debate and never have been until the last couple of decades. Listening always leads to apostasy., directly, if by listening, we mean to hear with the intention of possibly finding validity.
As soon as somebody says they want to have a conversation about some long-settled biblical truth, you can pretty much write them off immediately. If you do not have the first-grade discernment to know which issues are absolutely not to be entertained, you really just shouldn’t be taken seriously as a believer. Before long, they are functionally denying biblical inerrancy.
