Judah Smith, the lead pastor of Church home, is best known as celebrity pop icon, Justin Bieber’s pastor. Churchome is part of the Hillsong network of churches and ministries known as The Family, which is described on the website as “Like-spirited, forward thinking, kingdom-building visionaries and ministries” and anti-Trinitarian heretic, T.D. Jakes sits on the board of directors for this church. Smith has pastored Churchhome since 2009 and prior to that, led the youth group at a church called The City Church.

Smith’s association with Hillsong and its “like-minded” family of churches and ministries has bled out in his preaching and teaching over the years. As is typical with left-wing charismatics who are given to the social gospel, Smith attempts to describe Jesus as a “feminist” in order to support his progressive theological views.

It should be noted that alongside Smith, his wife, Chelsea, is also considered “lead pastor” at Churchome.

In 2019, Smith published a tweet on Twitter contending that “Jesus is not your judge.”

This flies in the face of the Scriptures which teach the exact opposite of this:

For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive what is due for what he has done in the body, whether good or evil. –2 Corinthians 5:10

The Father judges no one, but has given all judgment to the Son… –John 5:22

I [Jesus] can do nothing on my own. As I hear, I judge, and my judgment is just, because I seek not my own will but the will of him who sent me. –John 5:30

In a video clip in another tweet by Smith, he contends that Jesus sees everyone–lost and saved–as his children.

As I wrote previously, Scripture, however, objects to this inclusive universal gospel — God does not see all people as his children. The Bible says that we are at enmity with God because of our sin (James 4:4, 1 John 2:15, etc.) and that only when we come to Christ and are saved by faith are we then adopted by Him as His children (Galatians 3:26).

Smith is a proponent of the prosperity gospel which essentially teaches that Christianity is merely a genie-in-a-bottle religion whereby if one has enough “faith,” they can achieve enormous material and temporal gain. Smith does not care about the souls of lost people–he only cares about lining his wallet with the offerings of his sheep that he leads to be slaughtered daily. In order to keep a steady supply of sheep to fleece, he must preach a false gospel that affirms them in their lost state and does little to nothing to make them feel guilty for their sins and see a need for a savior.

Judah Smith is a false teacher and should be treated as such.

And in their greed they will exploit you with false words. Their condemnation from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep. –2 Peter 2:3
