Making #25 on our ongoing series, False Teacher of the Day, is Joyce Meyer. Meyer is a charismatic false prophetess who operates Joyce Meyer Ministries out of Fenton, Missouri, just outside of St. Louis.

Joyce Meyer is well-known for her Prosperity Gospel type preaching. The Prosperity Gospel–also known as “Health and Wealth Gospel,” “Name it and Claim it,” and “Word of Faith”–is a perversion of the biblical gospel that teaches that the primary purpose of Jesus’ death and resurrection is to create material gain for those who have enough “faith.”

In one sermon, Joyce Meyer she explains to the audience that if they continue to seek God diligently, “payday will come.”

Perverting the gospel even further, she also holds to and teaches the idea that we can speak things into existence–an act that only God can do. In fact, she once claimed that she was able to “speak her debt away.”

Contrary to what the Scriptures teach, Joyce Meyer believes that once people are old enough to reason, they’re going to have a hard time believing in God. Of course, this is absurd and is a notion only found within the charismatic and seeker-sensitive movements. The Scriptures actually teach the opposite and God invites us to come reason with Him (through His Word) so that He can reveal Himself to us and bring us to repentance and faith.

“Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord:
though your sins are like scarlet,
    they shall be as white as snow;
though they are red like crimson,
    they shall become like wool.
–Isaiah 1:18

Nonetheless, Joyce Meyer has an alternate route: forsake reasoning and look into your heart instead.

Joyce Meyer is also closely associated with Beth Moore, Christine Caine, Priscilla Shirer, and other false lady-preachers and, like the others, she preaches to men. In fact, Beth Moore referred to her as her “spiritual mama” who she admires and looks up to for spiritual advice and counsel. Yet, Meyer is a fraud and a charlatan who serves no other purpose except to please herself with material gain.
