Mike Todd has been off the radar for a while, but every now and then, he rears his head, begging for a response to something so cringeworthy—and blasphemous—that it demands attention.
You may remember Mike Todd from that time he turned tithing into a million-dollar lottery or when he spat into his hands and rubbed it on a congregant’s face, supposedly as a faith illustration. Then there was the time he defended going to gay bars as a Christian and the time he wore a t-shirt featuring his wife in a bikini, because nothing says “man of God” like turning the pulpit into a runway for personal vanity.
If that wasn’t enough, Todd has platformed some of the most unhinged theological takes imaginable, including his associate pastor Tim Ross comparing Jesus to a stripper and preaching messages laced with irreverence and gimmicks. Whether it’s jumping on trampolines or simulating sexual acts with mannequins, his “church” services resemble a bizarre fusion of a circus and a motivational seminar rather than a place of worship.
This is the man some still consider a pastor. Well, now, in his latest spectacle, he performs one of the most cringeworthy, innuendo-filled Valentine’s Day songs during worship service. It’s really disturbing that this passes as “Christian” to so many people.
