In a world increasingly adrift in moral ambiguity, the Evangelical Church as a whole has severely lacked a leadership that is willing to take a stand for biblical integrity even at the expense of their own reputations and even their personal safety. This is especially true in the Southern Baptist Convention, where even when solid men have been willing to rise to the occasion, they have been crushed by the establishment who are more concerned with their outward appearance than they are with integrity to God’s word.
In the current race for SBC President, Dr. Jared Moore has emerged as a fighter, willing to sacrifice his personal reputation and status among men in defense of biblical truth. Moore has proven himself as one who fearlessly confronts the creeping tides of moral and doctrinal compromise within the church. His most recent work, “The Lust of the Flesh,”—which I had the pleasure of interviewing him on—cuts through the noise with surgical precision, challenging the modern church to reclaim its biblical moorings on sexuality and sin. Moore doesn’t just write, he is a pastor who battles on the front lines against the encroachment of ideologies like feminism, Critical Race Theory, and the normalization of queer theory, which are threatening the Church’s biblical witness today.
While we reported earlier this week that Moore had announced his willingness to be nominated for SBC presidency, another Southern Baptist pastor and Oklahoma State Senator, Dusty Deevers, has announced on Twitter that he will be nominating Moore.
Here’s what Deevers wrote:
I am planning to nominate my friend @jaredhmoore for the office of President at the upcoming Southern Baptist Convention Annual Meeting in Indianapolis.
Why? Jared faithfully represents salt-of-the-earth Southern Baptists. He is a faithful husband, father, and pastor who serves the Lord dutifully at his local church without the need for fanfare or attention. He loves Christ and, therefore, loves Christ’s Word unashamedly. He has a sharp mind, honed at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and is gifted by the Lord with wisdom to understand what the church faces and needs in our day and how Scripture directs us to address it.
Dr. Jared Moore is a Great Commission Southern Baptist who has led his church to give regularly to the Cooperative Program and served the Convention as Second Vice President in 2014. Clearly, the world and our own nation need a thriving and faithful SBC to proclaim the gospel without embarrassment.
Sadly, though, our prophetic voice has been stifled in recent years because of infighting, self-dealing, and worldly compromise. God’s Kingdom will go on with or without the SBC, but we know the Devil would love nothing more than to destroy our long and faithful cooperative mission.
On the flip side, our adversary fears a convention that is united around God’s truth.
You have a man in Jared Moore who loves Christ, his Church, and the SBC and wants to see the SBC using all of its tremendous resources to accomplish the Great Commission faithfully.
It will be my pleasure to nominate him in Indianapolis, and I hope my fellow Southern Baptists will join me in voting for him.

With eyes set firmly on the presidency of the Southern Baptist Convention, Moore is not just another candidate. He’s a reminder that the SBC’s survival hinges on its allegiance to the inerrant Word of God. His candidacy comes at a critical juncture, promising to steer the nation’s largest Protestant denomination back from the brink of cultural capitulation to a witness of uncompromising, biblical fidelity.
Moore has an uphill battle against the current establishment, and there is no guarantee that even if he were to win, the SBC would survive. That is ultimately in God’s hands and God’s decision. In 2014, Jared Moore ran against the establishment pick, Ronnie Floyd, and did not win. But in all of this, one thing is for sure, Moore’s uncompromising allegiance to the Word of God will give the denomination the best fighting chance.
