If you’ve followed Reformation Charlotte at all over the last year, you are most likely well-aware that we believe The Gospel Coalition (TGC) to be a subversive progressive propaganda machine designed to turn the Evangelical Church sharply to the left. TGC employs a broad range of activists — from feminism to homosexuality to social justice — and most of them are tied either to the Southern Baptist Convention or to the Presbyterian Church (PCA).
The Gospel Coalition is home to several gay activists including Sam Allberry, co-founder of Living Out along with Ed Shaw. Living Out is a ministry that is designed to promote a celibate homosexual identity within the Church, normalize same-sex attraction, and promote alternative methods of intimacy — which include man-to-man physical intimacy — for homosexuals who never marry.
Other LGBTQ activists include Rachel Gilson who teaches students that it’s okay to be gay and says that gays who are married then come to Christ afterward can stay married because “God hates divorce.” She also teaches that gender is independent from biological sex.
It should go without saying that all of these leftist agendas go hand-in-hand. Social justice is tied to feminism which is tied to gay and other aberrant sexual activism. Therefore, it should come as no surprise that one of TGC’s premier race-baiters and social justice activists has absolutely no problem employing an open LGBTQ activist as his personal pastoral assistant at his church.

Duke Kwon is a TGC author and is the lead pastor of Grace Meridian Hill, a congregation in the GraceDC Network in Washington, D.C. He is a contributing author of Heal Us, Emmanuel: A Call for Racial Reconciliation, Representation, and Unity in the Church. Kwon spends the vast majority of his time inciting racial division between whites and other ethnicities on social media while calling for such outlandish measures as slave reparations.
Kwon is a regular speaker with several Southern Baptist leaders including Russell Moore, David Platt, and Thabiti Anyabwile.
Her name is Joanna Giddens and according to Grace Meridian’s website, she is “Pastor Duke’s assistant” and manages communication for the church.
Giddens is a long-time member of Grace Meridian and is in good standing. Giddens is also a gay activist. Apparently, when she’s not assisting “Pastor Duke,” she can be found on the streets at various gay pride marches promoting “equality.”
Not only that, but she also partakes in “women’s rights” marches. You know, the ones that promote abortion rights for women.
This should come as no surprise since Kwon himself is takes exception to the pro-life movement and favors, instead, a solution that incorporates women’s rights over their own bodies.
Did I mention Kwon is a TGC contributor? This is one of the main guys who is leading the discussion on social justice and racial reconciliation in the Evangelical Church. This man shared a platform with Thabiti Anyabwile — a Southern Baptist pastor — and Russell Moore, head of the most influential Southern Baptist office, the Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission (ERLC).
As of today, Gidden’s Facebook page still states that she is employed at Grace Meridian and now has the title “Community Life Coordinator.”
