While the vast majority of social justice-minded Evangelicals are singing the praises of Martin Luther King today, the dark history of the civil rights icon is largely unknown to the masses. Two years ago, two of the largest and most influential organizations in the world, The Gospel Coalition and the Southern Baptist Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission teamed up to celebrate King in a conference dubbed MLK50. And these leaders and speakers elevated him nearly to the status of deity while singing his praises.

But what most people donโ€™t know is that King had a dark side โ€” a really dark side. Not only was King a sex-trafficker who sexually abused women, but he also outright rejected the deity of Christ โ€” precluding him from the Kingdom of Christ and making him a heretic. But even more unknown is Martin Luther Kingโ€™s support of the worldโ€™s largest abortion provider, Planned Parenthood. In 1966, King accepted the Margaret Sanger award from Planned Parenthood.

According to Planned Parenthoodโ€™s website, he was awarded this for several reasons, including, โ€œhis singular contribution to human knowledge of the reproductive processes,โ€ โ€œhis singular contribution during the past decade to the mobilization of public awareness and government action to resolve the world population crisis,โ€ and โ€œhis courageous resistance to bigotry and his lifelong dedication to the advancement of social justice and human dignity.โ€

In other words, King supported population control through Margaret Sangerโ€™s version of eugenics.

Kingโ€™s wife, Coretta Scott King delivered his acceptance speech on his behalf, saying, โ€œI am proud tonight to say a word in behalf of your mentor, and the person who symbolizes the ideas of this organization, Margaret Sanger. Because of her dedication, her deep convictions, and for her suffering for what she believed in, I would like to say that I am proud to be a woman tonight.โ€

Margaret Sanger, the founder of Planned Parenthood was an advocate of racial eugenics who supported the reduction of the black population through abortion, sterilization, and other forms of โ€œbirth control.โ€

Surrogacy is The Childless Gospel of the Left

I ran across a tweet the other day that lodged itself in my mind like a thorn. It was from Genevieve Gluck, a name that occasionally floats across the radar of gender-critical feminism, usually sounding some kind of alarm about the degradation of womanhood at the...

David French, Russell Moore, and the Politics of Selective Compassion

I ran across a tweet by Elon Musk this morning that got me thinkingโ€”a rare moment of clarity slicing through the pious fog of evangelical open-borderism. It showed a crowd of South African leftistsโ€”dressed in their standard-issue revolutionary cosplayโ€”chanting in...

A Response to Twitter Thread on Capital Punishment for Abortions

It started, as these things often do, with a simple question. A seemingly nice lady on Twitterโ€”yet a representative of the typical emotionally charged illogical reasoning of the mainstream pro-life movementโ€”wanted to know how I think my church should handle a woman in...

Defying Rome: Wear Orange on St. Patrickโ€™s Day

Every year, as March 17th rolls around, we're smothered beneath an avalanche of greenโ€”green beer, green shamrocks, green everythingโ€”as if someone accidentally detonated a giant Leprechaun-themed confetti bomb. Amid this nauseating sea of verdant monotony, a dissenting...
