Clackamas United Church of Christ is located in Milwaukie Oregan. They have recently gained slight notoriety for their church signs. Many of the messages on these signs make claims that downright go against the teachings of Christ. Below we show the signs and we will give a basic breakdown of just how unbiblical they are.

There is no such thing as “transgender.” Sure, there are people who are deeply confused and mentally unstable who are following their sinful impulse to rebel against the God who made them. However, there is no such thing a “man trapped in a woman’s body” and vice versa. Jesus spoke about this topic very clearly:

He answered, ‘Have you not read that he who created them from the beginning made them male and female…’

Matthew 19:4

Boy oh boy do I see this one a lot. Liberals are always constantly trying to draw a dichotomy between Christ and Scripture. However, this one falls flat on its face:

You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life, and it is they that bear witness about me, yet you refuse to come to me that you may have life.

John 5:39-40.

The problem with the Pharisees was not that they loved the Bible, the problem was they missed the entire purpose of the Bible and therefore actually hated the Bible. The Bible is the testimony of Christ. Christ is not declaring that there is some standard outside the Bible, rather Christ upholds the Scriptures in this very verse as the place where we find Christ!

If you do not worship the Christ of the Bible you worship a false Christ. Consider these words of Jesus:

If you love me, you will keep my commandments.

Those who truly love Christ do not belittle His word.

The Bible testifies to the reality of hell all throughout Scripture. Ironically, Jesus is the prophet who spoke more of hell than any other prophet in Scripture. He is the original fire and brimstone preacher. Not only does Christ clearly preach the reality of Hell, but he is himself the Judge who will personally cast the wicked into hell (Rev 20:11-15, 2 Timothy 4:1).

In that place, there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth when you see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God but you yourselves cast out

Luke 13:28

The Son of Man will send his angels, and they will gather out of his kingdom all causes of sin and all law-breakers, and throw them into the fiery furnace. In that place, there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Matthew 13:41-42

And the beast was captured, and with it the false prophet who in its presence had done the signs by which he deceived those who had received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped its image. These two were thrown alive into the lake of fire that burns with sulfur. And the rest were slain by the sword that came from the mouth of him who was sitting on the horse, and all the birds were gorged with their flesh.

Revelation 19:20-21

God is a spirit and not a human. Therefore it is true to say he is neither man or woman. He is a Spiritual Being. However, God always identifies himself in Scripture as masculine. Christ reveals to us the Father, not the “mother”. In marriage which is the picture of Christ’s relationship with his church, the husband (male) represents Christ (who is God) and the church represents the wife (female) (Eph 5:22-33). This is just plain blasphemy attempting to win the approval of the feminist culture.

God is not man, that he should lie, or a son of man, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it?

Numbers 23:19

Our God is in the heavens; he does all that he pleases.

Psalm 115:3

For a man ought not to cover his head, since he is the image and glory of God, but woman is the glory of man.

1 Corinthians 11:7

Another appeal to the feminist. The Bible is loud and clear, women are not called to preach. Women are highly valuable to the church and are indeed precious to God. Women are not less in nature to men, they simply have a different function than men. Also, not many MEN should be preachers (like the guy in all these photos) because they will be held in stricter judgment James 3:1. God has a right to structure his church as he pleases. Women in the pulpit are a threat to the church of Jesus Christ.

I do not permit a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man; rather, she is to remain quiet. For Adam was formed first, then Eve; and Adam was not deceived, but the woman was deceived and became a transgressor. Yet she will be saved through childbearing—if they continue in faith and love and holiness, with self-control.

1 Timothy 2:12-15

If you are a member of this church and you are reading this, I call you to repent and turn to Christ. The true Christ. Not the false version you have created in your mind but the true and living God. Turn to Christ and live.

For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions…
