The Prosperity Gospel is arguably one of the most dangerous false gospels that are pervasive in today’s visible Church. Apart from the influx of the social justice gospel — primarily through the Southern Baptist Convention — the Prosperity Gospel really has no rivals in its subversive attempts to undermine the true saving gospel of Jesus Christ. But what makes the Prosperity Gospel even worse is when it’s coupled with another extremely dangerous heresy — and in this case, a denial of the Trinity.
T.D. Jakes is a modalist — that is, he believes a damning heresy about the biblical doctrine of the Trinity. The modalist heresy teaches that the Trinity is not one God existing in three distinct persons simultaneously, as the orthodox creeds teach. It teaches that God takes on different modes (or personalities) at different times. That God either exists as the Father, or the Son, or the Holy Spirit, but never all three simultaneously.
T.D. Jakes has launched a Divinity school and according to the school’s website, “Jakes Divinity School prepares leaders for the future through academic rigor with experiential-learning, spiritual formation, and creative innovation necessary to minister in the Church and society.” However, one could only expect that the school is going to teach the heresies held by its founder, owner, and leader, T.D. Jakes.
In the video below, you can see Jakes speaking with Steven Furtick about his plans for the school.
