“Gay Christians” Seeking to Hook Up? – There’s an App For That

by | Jan 13, 2019 | Blog, Uncategorized | 0 comments

In the wake of a major push for acceptance of homosexuality in the Christian community, particularly among left-leaning progressive denominations, a need has arisen for those professing to be Christians, yet still living a sexually deviant and immoral lifestyle to have easy access for, well, hook-ups.

Currently in the works, an app called believr promises to fill that need, as it touts on its website,

believr. is a modern dating app for a community that celebrates what makes relationships special and expresses a basic human truth: we all want to be connected and loved, regardless of our background or preferences.

It’s described as “An LGBTQ+ Christian dating community” where you can “find connections, dates, and a life partner where your faith and sexuality meet in a space of inclusion and diversity. We’ve created this app specifically for you.”

What’s meant by “life partner,” however, is a life-long act of fornication between two people of the same sex who seek to dishonor their bodies, as stated in Romans 1:27 by being “consumed with passion for one another.”

The app touts “Value Based Matching,” where it says you can “form a lasting relationship by uncovering your personal values, using our Stanford inspired evaluation. believr will then match you with people who share those values.” Further, it states that “our primary concern is for you to feel safe and secure.”

Of course, these personal “values” are anything but God-honoring, biblical Christian values. In fact, it’s sexual immorality–the exact opposite of Christian.

“Gay Christianity” is being made increasingly popular by the acceptance and promotion of openly gay church leaders such as Sam Allberry of Living Out, who is currently being promoted by the popular Gospel Coalition and the ERLC of the Southern Baptist Convention. While some of these groups fall just short of full affirmation of an openly homosexual lifestyle, groups such as Living Out have suggested that same-sex couples could actually live God-honoring, fulfilling lives together as physically intimate couples, so long as they stop short of bodily penetration.

Keep in mind that this group is being promoted by traditionally conservative evangelical groups. However, full affirmation and inclusion of homosexuality is certainly not outside the realm of the visible Church, as liberal denominations such as the United Methodist Church are on the verge of officially affirming gay clergy, as they have already officially affirmed gay members.
